How did shows like The Simpsons and Seinfeld get so huge back in the 90s?
During the first few seasons of the Simpsons it was some of the best ratings on TV and Seinfeld was huge of course. But both shows are witty and smart comedy, probably the wittiest and smartest comedy that was on at the time. Yet smart good comedies that came afterwards never got as good of ratings while the Big Bang Theory and CBS shows dominated.
