>be Spock, ask captain for emergency personal time
>captain keeps demanding you tell him way
>its vulcan privacy
>TELL ME SPOCK OR NO VULCAN FOR U
what the fuck kirk, respect his privacy, no wonder spock wanted to kill him
>spock died before kirk irl
based shatner
>kirk beams down the planet
>HUMANS MUST NOT INTERFERE
>kirk says lol nah i'll fight him for funsies
>btw kirk its to the death
>oh shit what
kirk was wrong almost every time this episodeq
I watched this episode for the first time a couple days ago and thought that was odd. Spock earned some privacy. Spock also could have said something to reassure Kirk that he didn't need to be concerned and that everything would go back to normal if he let him go to Vulcan.
>"Do you accept the challenge, Kirk?"
It's obviously a fight to the death; ask them if it's a fight to the death!
>"It's a fight to the death"
Woa wow whaaaat?
>Too late no backsies (even though we just said our laws and traditions don't apply to you)

jesus christ why wont vulcans just talk about their fucking mating times?
>oh btw about once a year i'm going to go temporarily insane and murderous aaaaaand get a bit.... rapey. OH BUT WE DON'T TALK ABOUT IT EVAR even though it will definitely put the crew and possibly the ship at risk kthx

dont get me wrong its a great episode, but i felt that kirks intrusion (solely as a means to tell the audience whats going on) is poor choice in storywriting. spock told him literally a dozen times that its private, secret, and no human mut know, yet kirk acted like a jerk
