Captain Planet-tier incompetent villains. No one dies. Most of the main characters are insufferable. It takes entire books before the series starts to get decent. It's only good for NEETs and/or people who simply want volume.

I enjoyed the first two books. So you could read those and then check some synopses for the rest of them since they become a complete clusterfuck. GRRM is going the same way tho, introducing new boring characters all the time.

I always recommend Robin Hobb if you
want some properly written Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
