Hey, /tv/, I want to catch up with Blade Runner before 2049 comes out. I want to catch up with the mythos, so what's the best version of the original movie? Plus, is there anything else for it, like a book or something? I already am playing the game for it.
I watched the directors cut. The book for it is "do androids dream of electric sheep" but a simple search wouldve told you that.

Just watch the final cut senpai

Only watch the final cut, don't fall for the theatrical meme

I would suggest the final cut and then watching the theatrical version at least once. But I'm sure just watching the directors cut or final cut one time will be enough to be able to understand the sequel.
Also, the directors cut and final cut are pretty similar
My alamo drafthouse is playing the final cut next thursday. Probably gonna go see it
Honestly it's a bad movie. The patricians will tell you it's a instant cult classic, but it's boring, the characters are bland andthe ending is shit

I preferred the directors cut has a more vintage feel to it.
the final cut looks more whiter and has some scenes that where untastefull to me (extended kissing force sex scene and psycho strippers)

This was the basis for the movie but you don't need to read it. It's an okay sci-fi novel though but I wouldn't put it in my top 10 or anything.

the novel was excellent.
the whole removal of mercerism and the fake cop station sucked.
