Rick and Morty is at its best when the episode revolves around a sci-fi gimmick like the micro-verse battery or the immortality field in the last one. Episodes 2-4 had none of that. Just Rick doing wacky science stuff like becoming a pickle or setting up convoluted traps for the Vindicators.

It's not just that though. The characters felt out of place in the show. Like why didn't Rick kill the therapist when he walks in the room? I kept waiting and waiting only to find out nothing came of it. The women writers are so detached from the show they start to half to self-insert
