So I watched and fell in love with both of these, where to next with Miike?

Sonatine
Dirty Cop
Hana Bi

Yakuza Apocalypse
Gozu is my favorite, one of the weirdest movies i've seen.

Reddit despises Ichi
Izo
An overlong, incoherent yet essential piece of Miike's filmography.

Also, check out Dead or Alive.
Visitor Q is the darkest comedy I've seen. Nasty and fucked up but it's really funny if you're into that kind of humor.

That describes all 300 of his movies
Ichi sucks, only other Miike I've seen is gozu and it's amazing. I suggest you watch tetsuo the iron man though

One of my fav. movies of Miike and maybe all time. I watch it every year.
Its fucking kino also.

GOZU

This movie is fucking great.

There's honestly too much.
My personal favorites are;
Imprint (no, really, it's amazing)
Visitor Q (a genuinely 10/10 movie for me - it's both horrific, moving, funny, clever, well made, unsual aesthetically, etc - rare film that stands out)
Gozu is also very funny.
He does "real" movies too, which I'm mixed on - Bird People Of China was good.

You ever see Kids Return?
That one gets really overlooked.

I've had it forever but never actually watched it fully. It looks so much like a home movie too

It's much better than I expected. I figured it was just going to be Miike doing some edgy found footage style thing, but it's just shot on VHS, and it's extremely edgy/nasty (sex, violence, depravity) but also hilarious and really touching, and does it all at the same time.
