I don't get Star Wars.
Dumb stories, dumb aliens, dumb universe, inconsistent abilities of characters, it doesn't even look good.
Even when I was a kid the ewok and wookies just made me facepalm out of embarassment.
Funnily enough I feel the same about Star Trek.

i don't know maybe it came out around the time when i became woke, but episode III will always be the worst for me. i never laughed harder in a theater and i have never been able to get through a second viewing.

VI is in the same mid-low bracket as RO and III (still making it in the top five star wars films, lel). The opening half hour is on par with V, but that doesn't make up for the clusterfuck that is the rest of the film. It's prequel tier after tatooine.

IV - fun but heavily dated forgettable popcorn brain candy
V - a lot more boring than everyone remembers but is a tight story that strikes emotional chords more any of the others
VI - dialed back to fun brain candy but now with stupid teddy bear monsters
I - mostly an enjoyably retarded ride but it might as well not even have any of the original characters

Star Wars was original, though. The sum of its parts was incredibly original in film, even if it was stealing ideas from samurai movies and french comics. It was a product, but it was novel at the time and is still one of the most original and well constructed introductions to a fantasy universe in film.

People hating on part 7 is as bad as people fellating part 3. 7 is way better than 3 on almost every level. Yeah, it's cashing in on nostalgia, but all of these movies are doing that. Yeah, the plot is the same shit we've gotten. The Friday the 13th movies recycle the exact same plot over and over again and those movies are beloved. This shit happens.
