What is more important in an actor, how attractive he is or how good is he acting?
>>
well they're not called fucking attractors, OP
>>
>>86510119
Depends entirely on what the role calls for and who it's being made for. Looks are way more important on a CW show for example.

Attractiveness

and his only legacy is facebook pages dedicated to star wars memes
>>
Note how whenever fans cast a film they would like to be made, they pretty much always select actors based on their looks. 90% of actors can't actually act, the only thing that differs between their roles is their backstory and dialogue.
>>

dustin hoffman is a ratfaced midget and he's considered a great actor. Does that answer your question?

attractiveness doesnt matter if you cant act shit

jurassic world had super models who were shit actors and i wouldnt watch that shit if it got a sequel
>>
I'd say attractiveness simply because (outside of niche roles) you need to be at least on some base level attractive enough before anyone gives a shit about your acting ability to cast you.
>>
>>86512643
explain jon hamm then
>>
People are more forgiving of mediocre acting if you're attractive.
>>
Timothy Spall is a respected actor so I think that answers the question
>>
>>86510119
Depends on what you're looking for. I you are just attractive you'll only get shitty roles.

Attractive people will always win.

Just think of the endless potential of actually good actors who've been passed up.

In the end it will still come down to actors who have mediocre-good capabilities.

The cinema wants to have as many customers as possible.
Because in the end, money makes the world turn around and please the masters.

Then why did Boyega get cast as a Star Wars lead. You are forgetting the Jews tendency to try to ram new standards for attractiveness down people's throats (which is why you also sometimes see out of place Jewy looking lead characters)

Well that and the fact that he's 5ft 2, and even by the standards of Hollywood he's clearly gay.

You need to have at least some talent. Like there are plenty of porn stars that are way hotter than the highest paid lead actresses but they're too dumb to be able to remember lines or act convincingly.

tom hardy is great and being masculine looking or unique looking in some way helps. looks are personality unfortunately and Europe despite it's rancid brownification, contains some of the last true humans of high art to grace the screen. the reason why there are no good actors in the united rapes is because we are a shit country full of inbreds and I wish we'd be nuked off the face of the earth

1) Cara is objectively beautiful. 2) Clearly, talented. 3) You don't know if it's nepotism and have no way of knowing.
>>
>>86520041
Tom Hardy really is fantastic. He really applies himself and brings something to his roles. I've enjoyed every production he has been in thanks to his acting and charisma.
>>
>>86520130
>1) Cara is objectively beautiful.
Even if beauty weren't a human concept and therefore unable to be objective in any capacity, she would not even be close.

>2) Clearly, talented.
She's clearly not talented given any of her performances. If you weren't a waifufaggot trying to change the topic of your thread to trout faced object of your fetishes you would recognize this.

>3) You don't know if it's nepotism and have no way of knowing.

Given our previous observations that she's neither attractive nor talented, and knowing her background and obscenely rich upbringing, its logical to conclude it must be nepotism
>>
>>86520305
She fits the definition of beauty. Thats about all you'd need.
She clearly is talented. She is modelling, acting, singing, playing drums, and she just wrote a book.
>observations
Here's your problem. Here's any hater's problem, actually.
>>
>>86520605
>She fits the definition of beauty. Thats about all you'd need.

Oh, you mean the everchanging definition that fits whatever the user wants it to?

>She clearly is talented. She is modelling, acting, singing, playing drums, and she just wrote a book.

Simply doing any of those does indicate she has talent, doing them well do.

>Here's any hater's problem, actually.

>I know, I'll shove my waifu into a completely unrelated thread because I'm a pathetic faggot
>WAAH, LISTEN TO ALL THESE HATERS WHO DON'T WANT ME SHOVING MY WAIFU INTO EVERY THREAD
>>
>>86520759
No, I mean the literal definition: the harmony of features.
She's doing these things well. You can bring up her acting again, and I will still argue theres talent there. Unless you think acting is not the work behind the act, but a status of some glorified sort and that someone's acting deserves your evaluation only if it's bluntly visible to you.

Last thing you said had a point, probably. Tho, I attached the image bc i couldnt help myself, it was a reaction image; you brought up Cara and again i couldnt help but to reply, bc i love talking about Cara :3
>>
>>86521360
>No, I mean the literal definition: the harmony of features.

She doesn't even have that though. Its like her fish mouth and neanderthal brow are in a race to see who can get to the middle of her face the fastest.
>>
>>86516427
Adrien Brody is a good actor, though.
The Jacket is underrated kino.
>>
>>86520130
>5'8" model
>female model's must be at the very least 5'10"
>this was hailed as a "breakthrough" in fashion

Yeah, you really have no way of knowing if it's nepotism, right? Other than the fact that she's too short to be a runway model and still did it anyways.
>>
>>86510119
>>86510119
Well, the world of acting is a different world than what we live in. The people are overwhelming ALL attractive to some degree unless they're playing the token ugly/fat character like Sam. And there's very few roles for token ugly/fats.

So attractiveness is Hollywood (and to a lesser extent, even smaller time gigs like plays or indie movies) is pretty much a necessity. Acting comes second, also very important, but there's a great many famous actors that are attractive people but bad actors. And there's many that simply got the roles through their looks and gradually developed acting skills over time like Brad Pitt, Keanu, or DiCaprio.

But attractiveness comes first (unfortunately like it does in most facets of life). Hollywood is all about image. There's only so many roles for the Amy Schumer's, Melissa McCarthy's, and Jonah Hills of the world.

I love The Jacket. Great athmosphere&great acting
>>
>>86520605
She really has no talent. I find her very sexy but she shouldnt try to act anymore
>>
>>86510119
Femanon here, Kit Harrington is a super attractive man. Sure, he loses a few points for being short but if everything else is on point, that's okay.

And he catches way too much shit for his acting. Sure, he's not on par with the Shakespearean delivery of Tywin, Tyrion, or Jorah; but he does a good job (just not a great one). Kit and Emilia Clarke are good actors, they just have far less range than most of the others on this show. They tend to have one method of delivery Dany being hyper assertive yet restrained and Jon being courageously melancholy. Virtually all their lines are delivered in that way, and it's not wrong, it fits their characters, but they could show a wider spectrum of human emotion.

Now you're just willingly being ignorant and passing it all as the argument bc it fits your narrow point of view in all this. If you can't see beauty, i can't help you.
>>86521532
>must be at the very least 5'10''
No, they are not.

>>
>>86521801
No Anon, I'm just telling your waifu is shit and it gets really annoying seeing the creature from the black lagoon incessantly posted here.
>>
>>86521884
There's quite a few women who think Buscemi is extremely hot despite being, what most guys believe, is very ugly. Along with Adam Driver and Bill Murray. Ask any artsy hippie girl, they tend to have crushes on all of those guys... and most guys (including me) can't figure it out.
>>
>>86510119
For actors attractiveness generally doesn't matter, sure it affects the roles they get but then again so does literally everything from teeth to skin color

Actresses though, you need to have SOME semblance of hotness even if it's just the feet, being full-on ugly will only get you either some minor character the main actor makes fun of or just straight-up interchangeable extra
>>
Attractiveness only matters for legends. Any human story should be played by actors who look like regular joes

Like I'm more drawn to 70s films and older because you've got a bunch of familiar looking people playing cops, civilians, criminals. Now everyone is a fucking model, it's stupid and ruins the immersion

Yeah, you go back to the 70s and before, and people were remarkably ugly in entertainment. Seeing some of these 70s bands; it's unbelievable how srappy, redneck, and dorky a lot of these people looked. I think back in those days attractiveness would help you succeed but it wasn't mandatory, so there was all manner of ugly actors, bands, media personalities; that you would never have today.

Bill Murray was acne-scarred and balding very early, chevy chase was completely bald by his mid 20s, Steve Martin was fully gray by his 20s, and all those SNL women would have been incredibly ugly even by modern standards, there would be no famous Gilda Radners these days.

Then by the 80s attractiveness was becoming a prerequisite, but the ugly people that hit it big before were grandfathered in.
