Considering the backstory of the movie-they tried to fight off Godzilla but ended up making everything so bad they had to up and leave the planet, and only now are trying to return when their spare planet is running dry-he might've turned into an allegory for Atomic Fallout, which would fit with the original movie considering IT'S inspiration, or it's an allegory for climate change.

It's pretty much slightly bellow average when it comes to appearance/runtime ratio. It was 29th Godzilla movie in my life so I wasn't bothered by it. I felt it really respected Godzilla and what he stands for. For once I enjoyed the army scenes. Love the music and intro too. I think it's solid overall.

Now compared to G'2014 Skull Island shows that Kong can't compare to Godzilla. There's not much to his character which becomes evident when you take away the beauty/beast story.

I have really taken a liking to CGI anime as they can use far better special effects and higher resolutions. Plus animate thousands of things going on etc... Seikaru Kado is one anime that's shows CGI off well, Berserk is one that shows it terrible.
