Do you think Martin Sheen's career would have taken off if he went by his real name Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez? Or would it be too confusing to Americans to have a hispanic who isn't a mestizo?
It would be too confusing, I have met two white Carlos's and I can't stop thinking about why they are named Carlos.
I'm sure he'd still do well but he'd probably get turned down for a lot of roles based on name, because casting directors would picture a smelly mexican rather than a slightly less smelly spaniard

no matter what agenda or meme you're trying to start here, he's a GOD for his performance(?) as Willard

4chan... shit... I'm still on 4chan

Please don't get mixed up with having the stage name & discussing the ethnicity issue.

"THIS" is a story about you meeting two dudes who happen to have the same name dumbass. I sure either of them has the issue of their name being recognized.
Emilio going the other way with it weirded me out as a kid

He's half irish
Hardly hispanic
He can't act and neither can his son.
They're only likable, a bit like Keanu Reeves.

See... the issue you presented here & having the stage name ain't the same thing. Beside, one of his kid goes by the name, Estevez.

No he wouldn't have gotten as far. He would've been typecast because of his name. See also Ben Kinglsey who had a really hard time being cast in non-Indian roles when he went by his original name.

He's actually not that great in Apocalypse Now. His character is too much of a passive observer. Literally anyone could have played his part. Badlands is God-tier Sheen though.

His voice was so perfect for the monologue bits though, but you're right that it didn't have a lot going on for him to be acting.

maybe it wouldve helped more if he wasnt a shitty actor

Yeah but Emilio Estevez is hardly a big star, is he?
I don't think I've seen him in anything since Mighty Ducks
