This is a pretty weak complaint, considering Cersei will most likely become a solo Queen in the novels. Likewise, Sansa's eventual role in a position of power has been hinted at for ages. So what other female leaders do you take issue with? I can't imagine you blame the female writers for Dany/Lyanna/Lysa considering they're already canon. And Yara/Asha's desire for the throne isn't something the show writers made up, either.

Ellaria is the only female character that assumes power in a manner that is strictly off canon. If you'd said shitty neoliberal feminism was to blame for some of the Dorne mess I might have agreed with you.

They've abandoned all characterisation for set pieces. The editing is also a massive problem. Westeros feels about the size of Disneyland this season with characters moving from land to land in a couple on-screen minutes. They've given up on fundamental visual language in this respect. You don't need to show a ten minute boat ride to imply time and distance, you can convey passing time with how you cut from scene to scene. But this show's directors keep using standard hard cuts regardless of whether we're looking at a scene that's chronologically taking place immediately after the previous scene, or whether we're looking watching a character cover a continent. It's fucking appalling storytelling.

I haven't read the books, but the backbone of their slower burn, plodding pacing with extreme attention to detail put into the world, the systems that govern it and the people that inhabit and the places those systems and people exist in, was good to build the show off of.

Without that, the show has become a fanfic in all the ways possible. It's taken the hanging plot threads and followed them all to the most obvious and fan-favorite ends in a way that feels entirely pulpy. All the characters that the camera swings around to are all so cloyingly simplified. It's like some show with CW sensibilities wearing the skin of the earlier seasons.
