Not gonna lie, my interest in GoT has been waning ever since the high fantasy background lore started becoming part of the forefront until the point in which we are at now.
I'll keep watching because I'm invested in it but I can't deny the human politics was easily the part of the show that made it stand out over other medieval fantasy settings.

LOTR is genuinely terrible, its long winded, saccharine, overly simplistic nonsense. It had very little character development and the action/ violence was absurd and contradicted any major themes nerds dig out from between the words. The writing was pedantic and largely and makes the monologues in American Psycho look entertaining by comparison. Its the literary equivalent of looking at paint drying. It had zero humor, there are but a sprinkling of eloquent phrasing in its obese 1178 pages length.
The films were boring, long winded and juvenile, the special effect did not hold up over time and the movies are now horrible to re-watch. If one was inclined they could make for comfy background viewing but to sit through the butt numbing trilogy is a treat best left for the inmates at Guantanamo bay.


jk never read them, watched the films and they were largely forgettable.
GOT is at the very least engaging.
