I did a lot of stage hand work in my 20's. Everyone does their job and it all comes together in the end ... except when one person doesn't.

We were doing a TV show (a shitty old one that may have only seen a single airing) and there was one shlep that should have been fucking fired but never was. We suspected that he had something on the producer. He would make stupid fucking mistakes all the time and never apologized. Cost us quite a bit of time and some filming time as well. The guy deserved as severe ass chewing like no one else. The casual observer would think that he was a meek unassuming innocent guy but he was actually a bit of an asshole as well as a fuckup.

When I remember that guy, I love what Bale did. I assume it was another one of those guys who really really deserved it.

It was a single location business where I had a single manager and I pretty much ran the place. If I was a cog in a big machine I would have been walked roughly thirty seconds afterward.

I've had a few instances of customers freaking out and throwing tantrums, the last of which ended up with me getting into a fistfight with one. I threw him through a front glass door and then busted open his face and he had to get stitches. Luckily he was on camera shoving me first so I got off with the old self defense angle. Job gave me two weeks paid time off so they could perform an "investigation".

I absolutely kicked the shit out of the guy and all of my coworkers thought I was a badass for finally standing up to a petulant customer but what I didn't tell any of them was that I tore a muscle in my back during the fight and could barely stand up straight for like a week afterward.

Worth it though.

I work in Hollywood and I can tell you without exception that Directors of Photography are trash humans. They think they are the hottest shit on set. They think they're the director and the producer and the writer. They think everyone should stop to let them do whatever they want.

Bale was justified. Sure he went overboard, but he had enough. The DP had been fucking the actors concentration up non-stop throughout the shoot and the DP shouldn't even be fucking touching lights to begin with, there are two entire departments whose job is to fuck with the lights when he asks them.

The blame lays almost ENTIRELY on McG, who can't run a set. It never should have gotten that far, it never should have went on that long. If McG had half a sack he'd have nipped that problem in the bud.
