There's still a group of people who watch it no matter what because it's been a stable part of their lives for decades. Brand loyalty is a hell of a drug. I saw that video yesterday. Pretty good. I'd say the Frank Grimes episode, while it also had plenty of funny jokes, gets to the very essence of what went wrong with The Simpsons.

Originally, Homer was the perfect anti-hero, a Willy Loman of the '80's and '90's and an example of what NOT to be in this day and age. By the time of the Frank Grimes episode, Homer is now seen as the perfect person BECAUSE of his flaws. Everybody loves him even though he only cares about himself. Nothing ever goes wrong for him even though he's stupid, just because he's a TV character. We would all be better people if we aspired to be more like Homer and turned our brains off like everyone else.

It's just a long shambling (ironic, huh?) video saying stuff that any 10 year old could work out. Things change, from society to staff. There are very few shows that remain quality regardless of the passage of time and literally one of the criteria for GOAT shows is 'It is timeless'. This is why historical shows often work simply because they're based purely on stuff which has happened and jokes and drama are written around such things.
