Obviously it holds no water but LotR could be interpreted as the white male men of the west fighting against the other non-white races trying to immigrate or some other autistic interpretation of a high fantasy tale.
Maybe one day something akin to it could be made but at the current time I don't think its possible without it being politicized.

asoiaf is a great series in its own right, just so different to lotr in style, tone and purpose that it's not really useful to make comparisons.
