I saw every film that was named in this thread by more than one person except Ghost Story. I literally never heard of it.

The only movie that I haven't got around to watching yet and that I suspect might be great is Silence. Not saying there weren't a 1000 indie gems released this year, but as far as the mainstream goes, it was a shit year.

Silence is top 10 all time, easily. It's 8/10 on its own, but obviously has much deeper significance if you're a Christian.

It's wild that Scorsese followed up the wild and indulgent Wolf of Wall Street with the subtle and introspective Silence.

Also A Ghost Story was a great surprise. Tons of emotion and the most unique film this year by a long shot. In an era of capeshit and three act dramas, it was refreshing. Not that anything is wrong with those, but A Ghost Story was very refreshing.
