Hannibal has a dedicated and obsessive fanbase that's blown the show, as outstanding as it is, out of proportions. I'm afraid that expectations will be very high on their part, and the more casual audience will have moved on by that point if they haven't already forgotten all about it.

Unless they start a production blog type of thing to keep people on their toes as well as keep ambitions within realistic boundaries it won't make it past a mini season.

I'm aware of that, but Silence of the Lambs is really the only reason anybody cares about these characters. I'm not saying the series or the other movies don't have merit, but it's because of the critical success of that movie that Hannibal was ever made and would ever have a following. The third Hannibal book was only very loosely done and the Red Dragon saga made sense because you're taking a story involving Will and Hannibal and adapting it for a second Will and Hannibal. For the plot of the Silence of the Lambs, either they will depart too far from the story to the point of offence, or it will be too derivative.
This is besides the fact that is isn't a good idea anyway and they should make up a new story involving the same characters, making for the flaws of the series up until now.
