repostin my thoughts on it from last thread

it's genuinely well-written and deploys its big budget well (great costuming and great visuals and lighting that actually show it off). The writing is generally real good but gets kinda awkwardly oblique at times, I assume to not go too far in any pro or anti direction re: the royals.

Also kinda a minor thing but the way all the episodes are discrete really impressed me, most Netflix stuff is just sloppily and arbitrarily cut up along episode lines, but all the Crown's episodes are distinct. Like Mad Men vs GOT in structure.

Never, because the species never had a major story after Series 1, unless you count SJA (and even then they had an episode about the Blathereen). There was a scene in the first draft of The Stolen Earth where 10 assumed that a Raxacoricofallapatorian was a Slitheen, until they angrily insisted that they were a Jingatheen.

>>
>>86182437
Best:

1. Edge of Destruction (Atmospheric horror is great fun)
2. The Invasion (Perfect score and acting from all involved)
3. Inferno (Essential Pertwee viewing and great human antagonist)
4. Pyramids of Mars (Essential Baker viewing and great villain)
5. Earthshock (Great reveal and features my favorite monster)
6. The Two Doctors (Colin/Pat combo is amazing and just works)
7. Curse of Fenric (Atmospheric horror works well and I love vampires and WW2 setting)
8. The Chimes of Midnight

Worst:

1. The Sensorites (I just didn't enjoy it that much but I liked the Sensorites).
2. The Space Pirates (Watching it in the stream was fucking painful.
3. Colony in Space (It just drags on and on and on and on but it has an interesting idea at its base)
4. The Armageddon Factor (It goes on and on and on and on and then just ends)
5. The King's Demons (Why did they even make this)
6. Mark of the Rani (Why did they make this)
7. Delta & The Bannermen (80's Doctor Who fanfilm with £10 budget).
8. Minuet in Hell (Only saving grace is Nicholas Courtney and Paul McGann)

The first time River and the Doctor meet is when she dies, that's a pretty significant event, and it's what puts River in context for the rest of the Doctor's lives. >Daleks bow to Graske

>Own castles & banks in every planet
>Direct descendants of the ancient royal blood line
>Will bankroll the first cities on Mars (Graskegrad will be be the first city)
>Own 99% of DNA editing research facilities on Earth
First designer babies will in all likelihood be Graske babies
>All Graske said to have 215+ IQ, such intelligence on Earth has only existed deep in Tibetan monasteries & Area 51
>Ancient Indian scriptures tell of a alien race who will descend upon Earth and will bring an era of enlightenment and unprecedented technological progress with them
>They own Nanobot R&D labs around the world
>You likely have Grakebots inside you right now
>Planets entrust their gold reserves with the twins. There’s no gold in the Bank of Karabraxos, only Bank of Graske
>The Graske are timeless beings existing in all points of time and space from the big bang to the end of the universe. We don’t know their ultimate plans yet. We hope they’re benevolent beings.

>The character of Sabalom Glitz, with whom Mel departs to explore the galaxy, first appeared in The Mysterious Planet alongside the Sixth Doctor. Briggs, who had created the character of Ace, had stated in Ace's character outline for Dragonfire that she had slept with Glitz on Iceworld. The Paul Cornell-written New Adventures novel Love and War implies (and his later novel Happy Endings confirms) that Ace lost her virginity to Glitz.

What the fuck? Ace was sixteen and there was no romantic subtext between her and Glitz in Dragonfire. They hated each other. Noncanon.

Considering that there's new material published all the time for even the first two Doctors, Extreme Mode isn't currently achievable, even if you could a) get hold of all the material and b) combine it all into one airtight timeline that doesn't contradict itself ever. You would fail as soon as you reached the TV comics with John and Gillian, as the MAs treat them as fictional constructs from the Land of Fiction.

That's a really beautiful room, and it even has roundels.

In the past I've actually imagined there to be huge forests and abandoned ancient cities somewhere in the TARDIS. We know from Journey that there can be rooms that look like they're outdoors, so imagine a TARDIS corridor episode where there's a huge foggy forest at night somewhere, with a dome sky of roundels which look like stars.

Best:
Hartnell: The Web Planet (I will defend this to death, there is literally nothing wrong with it)
Troughton: The Macra Terror (Power almost gets there, but Macra has that camp glory that just edges it)
Pertwee: Inferno
T. Baker: The Seeds of Doom
Davison: Kinda (shameful nobody's said this yet)
C. Baker: Mark of the Rani
McCoy: Survival

Worst:
Hartnell: celestial Toymaker (no redeeming features, let's be honest)
Troughton: Space Pirates
Pertwee: Colony in Space
T. Baker: Revenge of the Cybermen
Davison: arc of Infinity
C. Baker: Timelash (Twin Dilemma gets away with it because it contains Baker's best performance)
McCoy: Delta and the Bannermen

McGann is not a fucking Classic Doctor how many times do this need to be explained the 'Classic series' ended with McCoy stop this retconning.

>>86197036
That is just wrong. Classic Who and NuWho are distinct entities but they do not comprise the entire franchise.
>>
>>86197278
In all of its marketing, Classic Who has now enveloped the movie and Paul Mcgann as well. While it may not have technically been part of the original show, because of its existence in the wilderness years and since it didn't launch a new show, it becomes nothing more than just another piece of Doctor Who media released in the Wilderness period. As well, it featured a regeneration from the 7th Doctor to the 8th Doctor, a direct tie and continuation that NuWho did not directly have, further distancing itself from NuWho and cementing it as a part of the Classic Era. It's an effective sendoff to the original show, accomplishing in the end, the exact same thing Sylvester McCoy's dubbed in final lines did in survival, but only to greater extent.
>>
Did anyone else assume McCoy was the doctor negorececcleston in 2005?
