Don't worry you won't have to pay $10 a month for 10 different services, just sign up for the Warner/Disney/ESPN/Netflix/HBO bundle and pay only $90 for all 10 streaming services.

>Is cord cutting a meme?

yes because these retards are paying 100+ for internet when they could pay 100 for cable and internet

Honestly, its kinda of funny watching all these big companies jumping into the already super saturated streaming market.... It just goes to show the level of incompetence in the leadership at these fat media corporations currently... it makes it painfully obvious why so many people today are claiming that old media is dead

It is already like that. Rights to old stuff is everywhere only. Like how both Amazon and Netflix have star trek.

It also depends on the kids age. At a certain age you could put a barney VHS time on and they'll watch it 100 times in a row.

Remember reading an article about millennials buying antennas and asking stores if they were legal

>>
>>86110539
I too listen to Rush
>>
The thing I love best about movies and shows on stream is that they're usually stuff that's hard to obtain physical copies of. I managed to watch all of Spenser for Hire and movies like The Seven-Ups.

What cable companies should've done a LONG time ago is a la carte; we pick and choose which channels we want to see instead of a package.
>>
>>86108984
fuck disney
>>
I'm paying 45$ a month (split between roommates) for pretty good internet which is full of free shit I can watch. That plus Netflix for gf and friends during social events is all I ever need; I very likely won't be getting anything else in my lifetime. Anyone who pays for cable/satellite TV is fucking retarded. I cannot grasp the idea behind paying for a ton of channels you will never watch, and the channels you do watch are full of commercials.
>>
>>86109628
Streaming is the new wave as more and more elderly people either pass away or adapt to the changing climate of media tech. Live sports is the only thing that's truly holding back cable companies from dying off.

Gen X and Millenials will be the dominant consumer base in another 10-15 years. It's gonna be REAL interesting to see what the streaming market will look like.

I do work a few hours a day at my local (to escape the roommates) and notice mostly Asians- Japs- are onto this. Went to take a piss and some zipper head is shining up DVDs with a damp paper towel. I'm thinking to myself, what the fuck is happening here?
>>
>>86112141
Exactly. Libraries and cafes with WiFi are how I've been torrenting stuff. I never use my own IP.

Admittedly, I do stream on an occasion, but only old stuff that I doubt studios would give a fuck about. I only watch leaks and new stuff on public WiFi.

What the fuck is wrong with all of you idiots? Grab a VPN, boot up your preferred torrent client, and strap in. I have really good internet and could never stream anything at good quality from the paid services. Using my own files is a thousand times better.

Yeah, they'd love that for free bumps. Actually they depend on it, as long as the positively spun OP stays on the front page/top two rows of the catalog

pirate everything until there emerges a single service with at least 75% of all content, like Spotify. Streaming wars are the new Betamax/HD-DVD wars

It always has been. All you need to watch xfinity online is an account pw from ur parents or if I have friends or something you can all chip in

that's not true. I have been torrenting since it became a thing and only recently got a warning from comcast for the first time because of a watched public upload.

They turned streaming into something like movie channels. Netflix use to have tons of titles, now you need to get 3 to 4 services just to get meager content.

This is the time for me to chime in and say I have a solution. I've created an offline digital media library that is free and open to my /tv/ brothers.

It's called The Golden Age Collection and it has over 2,200 films, 8,500 TV episodes, 105,000 songs, and 1,200 music videos. All you need is the hard drive space. This is 100% real and changes the game for people in your situation. HMU if you want anything in the collection. Check out more info at goldage.org

This. You're doing it right, my friend. I have a 24TB RAID NAS doing my heavy lifting. Perhaps I have some content that you would like.

For Disney, this could actually work. They know they're the largest entertainment company in the world and that moms love their brand, so they're confident they'll pay for that service.

Look, I know I'm just a stranger on /tv/ and your instincts tell you to distrust someone random on 4chan, but I can tell you that this project is very real and it does change the game when you get it.

I've given copies of the collection to all of my friends and family members and now none of them have to pay for cable, Netflix, or any of that shit. It's all offline, so there's no risk of interference.

I don't know what I can do to prove to you that the project is real and that I genuinely do care about how my /tv/ brothers consume their kino. And I have created the best way possible. I just want to share the fruits of my labor.

Touchstone Pictures is their only thing that matters. Besides that Disney only has overrated cartoons, capeshit and two old franchises that were driven into the ground long before they were bought by Disney.

I don't watch sports.
I don't watch kiddie shows.

I pirate their capeshit and delete after a viewing.

The only thing I gave a shit about Disney was Tron Uprising, and they canceled it due to buying Marvel 3 years ago and finally starting the "universe" full steam, and also at that time they JUST bought Star Wars.

Cancelling Tron for Star Wars dogshit. Fuck you Disney, I'll never forget.

European here. here the norm is that you basically "buy" the phone for soime absurdly low fee while signing up for a long term service plan.

For example right now I can sign up for a S8 for 24 months at a monthly rate of 65 dollars where I get free text and phone with 20GB. When that plan is done I can sign up for a new plan and get a new phone.

Do American buy a phone and then buy a service plan for it? Because that sounds seriously fucked.

Depends on your company and your contract. The service I use I buy the phone myself outright and then pay a flat fee every month. No contract. If you're late on payment they just turn off your phone until your payment clears. No additional fee's, and more than enough data for what I use. Especially since music and video streaming doesn't count against me.

No, Americans tend to do the same thing. The phone's cost is subsidized by the high rates they get contracted into. If you don't want to be a cuck to phone companies that dangle shiny toys in front of your face though, you can get your own phone and pick a plan for it that's competitively priced.

You end up paying 2 or 3 times as much for the phone if you do that. Better to buy it up front if you can.

Yes, but that was before Netflix released weaker than expected growth figures in June and it was made public that they had twenty billion dollars in debt. Disney was undoubtedly interested in buying Netflix and made that deal as a test measure, but now they're backing out.

>You end up paying 2 or 3 times as much for the phone

You're clearly not accounting for the value of the service plan that comes with the phone.

For example a 20GB + free text and voice plan will run you 30-40 dollars a month where I live. Meaning the phone costs you perhaps 25-35 dollars a month or about 700 dollars in the end. That's basically what it costs me to buy one in a store.

reason why piracy exists is because of a lack of accessibility, removing your stuff and making your own shit is anti-accessibility

Disney pulling out of Netflix will be devastating. I know families who only subscribe to Netflix because of the Disney content.
