My mom would watch horror movies with me when i was a kid. in one of the friday the 13th movies jason stabs some hitchhiker while she was eating a banana and she spit up disgusting banana-saliva mix that then mixed with blood. I couldn't eat anything with banana in it for two decades.

I did pizza delivery for about five years, and one think I learned about dogs is that they're giant pussies. As long as you act unfazed by the barking and growling, they're going to keep their distance. One three separate occasions, I managed to scare off a pitbull, a boxer, and a saint bernard by doing the move from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where Caesar is walking away from the german shepard barking at him, and then turns around out of nowhere, and screams at it. Shit works, or at least it did for me.

She was obviously just having fun fucking with me, but it gave me a legitimate fear of zombies for years. Not only did I think that the dead coming back to life was a possibility, but an outright inevitability. I couldn't sleep at night sometimes, because I would freak myself out so bad worrying about it.

I think finishing the original Resident Evil for the first time is what broke me of it. Like a switch flipped somewhere in my head, because I had "beaten" the zombies. It probably acted as some kind of fear exposure therapy.
