Swords don't weigh more than a couple pounds. Longswords in particular are lightning fast because you have two hands giving you leverage. It's much faster than a punch.

And dodging (or voiding) attacks is one of the main ways you defend yourself, but you do it by controlling distance and timing, not bobbing side to side like a retard

Yeah but the point is you can't instantly swing an axe.
You need build up to swing something heavy and once you do you can only swing it in the direction you started the swing.
If lets say for fantasy sake you were a tiny kung fu master you could read the direction of the swing and have time to move if you were quick with good reflexes.

With a sword that big you probably wouldn't need big swings to kill that midget. A technique not shown in the stupid clip, but that makes a lot of sense with big/long weapons is using one hand as a fulcrum and moving the blade with the other (as Lindy demonstrates in his katana video for example).
Of course if you did swing it with your whole body, as in the show, and someone gets in the way trying to "deflect it" they'd get wrecked.
