Was Inception Nolan trying to do a commercially accessible form of surrealism? It always feels too structured and robotic every time I watch it for me to fall into the dream states he's conjuring.

He just made Paprika more normie accessible.
the third act was shit. shooty shooty action Jackson.
>movie about dreams
>majority of the film is stock-standard color-treated action film bullshit with a sprinkling of contextual bullshit
>still considered incredibly deep and hard to understand by mainstream culture

society is doomed

Yes he was trying to make it commercial because he loves money, and rightfully so. Inception doing so well is part of the reason why they gave him 20% of Dunkirk back end.

anime doesn't get more normie honestly

It's literally a heist movie with gimmicks
This was The Matrix with dreams.
I have the same problem with it as with Cabin in the Woods: Great concept and worldbuilding, very tame and average execution.
With that world full of posiblities, this is what you chose to show us of it as the main focus? Lame. This is the equivalent of a movie taking place in the James Bond universe focusing on a non-00 agent trying to get a guy for tax evasion or something.
In my dream universe, Lynch, Cronenberg and Carpenter teamed up and made a movie called Inception. It was awesome.

Well the idea was that they were trying to hide the fact that it was a dream
What was the point of showing a later scene as the opening?
So normies get confused?

Opening Image – A visual that represents the struggle & tone of the story. A snapshot of the main character’s problem, before the adventure begins.

The only one confused here is you.
