csgo in any state is garbage compared to cs 1.6 pre-source. Don't forget the game you can download now is nothing like it was in 2004. Valve kept messing with it long after they gave up the patch numbering. CSGO is shit where it mattets, like the pointless first shot spread and movement like you're in a swamp. Granted it's not as bad as it used to be in 2012 or even 2015 but it's nowhere near the fluidity of goldsrc. Maybe it has CS:S beat but no one played CS:S ever except burgers.

Hitbox and reg issues were just as common, if not more, in 1.6, it's just that retards who never played it competitively think otherwise. Go play 1.6 for a few hours now and tell me with a straight face it's better. Everything is much more balanced; weapons, maps. Movement is also more fluid, especially tagging. And there's no silent walking.
Yeah, there's still a lot of flaws in GO, but they're nothing compared to the shit in 1.6 that Valve left in for over a decade.

And it's not trying to be either. It's a fun fast-paced arcade shooter you can jump in an play a few rounds on a public server. I won't even start up CSGO before I have 5 guys in teamspeak. Organizing an arma session is a commitment, unless you want to play solo BR. Which is fun, but totally different from BF.

If you want a polished and fast-paced shooter game that prioritizes gameplay over realism and gives you lots of tools to have fun with then battlefield is perfect. It's not trying to outdo Arma or CS. It is meant to be a casual game by design.

It's like a good action movie with great choreography and pacing. Not every good movie is a 3 hour long social commentary, why should a video game have to be competetive to be good? It's executed well where it counts, such as the weapon variety or the feel of the guns. It looks good, it's polished, it has decent netcode, the UI is clear etc. It's well made entertainment.

The map Carentan in Cod1 (later reworked into Chinatown in CoD4) is modeled directly on the town as it appeared in BoB. Brecourt is also obviously modeled on the BoB episode, but then again, that was an actual battle that happened, so whether you could claim it was ripping off BoB can be challenged.

Publishers always wanted money, but in the early 2000s the best way they figured they would make money is to let developers create the most enjoyable game they could. After the industry blew up market research became a huge part of it. Games these days aren't bad because devs don't know how to design a game, they're bad because research has shown that making your game addictive is more profitable than making it good. Game design comes second, the most important part is to hook the player into some unlock grind loop so he's more likely to pay for the next map pack. Nothing wrong with it, their job is to make money, but these decisions are not made in the player's best interest.

In domination there's at least an idea of a front line and team positions which makes it more FUN since you can use your wits to flank the opposing team for example. Or use team work to achieve objectives. You can't do that in TDM because it's just random people running forward until they die and spawn in a random spot only to run forward again until they die.

It's essentially holding one position which is fine in an objective based mode if it serves your team but backfires easily since the enemy team can just cap the other objectives.
In TDM there is no real counter to it, you just have to rush the guy in the camp spot or find another part of the map to try and do the same thing in.

You get a good k/d in both game modes but the difference is in domination the camping team loses while in TDM the camping team wins.
