Because streamed shit is almost always bit starved. Torrents of good encodes aren't bitstarved. You can have bitstarved shit encodes, though, such as YIFY or RARGB

A 720p movie should be about 5GB. 1080p about 8GB. A (pirate) stream will be in the 500MB-2GB range for both, if not less.

A 720p 24 minute animated show shoulb be about 400MB. Streamed it will be (pirate stream that is) ~100MB.

A 1080p episode of a 40 minute long tv show like game of thrones will be about 1.4-1.8GB. Streamed it will be in the 200MB-500MB range.
