Remember the scene where Rick attempts suicide and only survives because he passes out at the last second...then Jerry comes into frame happy and content he found his weed-wacker? That's why Jerry's bullied so much. He's Ricks counterpart in this show. Where Rick is super smart and succeeds in everything...but is constantly miserable, Jerry is a failure but he's just happy to be with his family. Rick bullies him because he's bitter about Jerry's joyfulness living his mundane life (ignorance is bliss).

The ironic thing is if Jerry ditched Beth, he'd be a highly successful actor. But by doing so, he becomes miserable (like Rick) because of his success. It turns out even though him and Beth are a LEGENDARY bad couple, they aren't happy when they're not together either. Jerry ISN'T a loser. He's proven to be a good father and husband on several occasions. And him and Beth apparently can be the perfect couple given the right circumstances (Cronenberg world). He's no different than countless men out there who lost the chance for success because of one bad decision (getting Beth preggers way too early). And when life is constantly kicking you in the balls (Rick), it affects you.

Another irony (show is full of them) is when Jerry is pared with the least successful Rick (doofus Rick), they become the best of friends. So under the right circumstances, even he and Rick could be extremely close.

I can't wait to see how this plays out now that they're separated.
