Piranha 3-D is a genuinely good movie though.

Yes, the plot and script are generic, but the characters, scenarios and dialogue are amusing and, though formulaic, it's competently done.

The direction is exceptional, for a horror film, like some of Aja's other work (on the Hills remake and Haute Tension).

It fits the bill of everything I would require for a "good" movie. It's a solid 6/10.
