I liked the first season and then it just never felt as good. Lots of cool mystery angles with the town were going on and then they never got to the bottom of them or fleshed some out as an afterthought later on. Didn't help that norman was an r9k school shooter and had a bunch of qts falling for him, felt way too unrealistic (as did most of the show itself)

Probably because nobody except complete weirdos want to see a fucking show trying to humanize some murderous psychopath by giving him a fucked-up upbringing.

You can't humanize Jeffery Dahmer by giving him some sob story. People much prefer True Detectives season 1: where two cops push themselves to the brink of their very sanity in order to catch the psycho murderer and then emerge from the ordeal with some catharsis and a greater understanding of the nature of good and evil.
