Its a "sequel" so events play out differently. He's in New York because they're trying to show the link between our world and Roland's for the GA. With just Jake because the first book is about him and then him and Jake. There is no fight with Flagg and honestly that was a huge mistake. I love the series but no decent showdown with Flagg was a letdown. Flagg is implied to have all kinds of powers. I believe he is supposed to have been Carrie's father btw

Hopefully this ruins Elbas career. Even though he's the sexiest, bravest, most gifted actor in the universe who is just like Clint Eastwood and who should totally be the next James Bond.

I was surprised to hear this movie's only an hour and a half long considering the trailer made it look like some epic blockbuster thing. A little disappointing considering I thought it looked cool and I wanted to learn more about the dark tower series without having to read about 50 books to contextualize everything but I guess that's the way it goes. The guy who wrote this has been known for writing some pretty bad stuff in the past, Sony just probably wanted to do it for a quick cash grab before they push the TV series (and considering it's Glen Mazzara running it it'll probably be fucking awful).

What happens is Roland meets Jake in the first book and then abandons Jake (resulting in his death) in the name of reaching the tower. In the second book he meets Eddie and Odetta/Susannah. In the third book Roland brings Jake to his world before Jake was originally sent to his world in the first book, preventing Jake's death.

So Roland meets Eddie between meeting Jake the first time and second time.

If you showed me the trailer for Dark Tower but replaced Idris Elba with prime Clint Eastwood it would still look like shit.
