Most people who say that have never listened to The Doors' entire collection. Honestly, it's just tiresome and does discredit to talent like Robby Krieger, John Densmore and Ray Manzarek. Everybody knows Morrison's name but he was the worst part of the group.
That could be why someone like Scott Weiland could replace him. Yeeeeuuuucccch.

Staley was a lot more private than Cobain, there's not much material out there to build a biopic of him on.

>guy had a fucked up upbringing, eventually reconciled with his dad through their shared fondness for heroin
>guy's ex-fiancee had as much of a drug addiction as he did and was forced to prostitute herself for drug money towards the end of her life in the mid 90s
>when the guy's ex-fiancee died, he completely gave up on being a functional member of society and spent a decade shooting up heroin, playing videogames and working on art projects that never left his house before dying

Layne was in such a bad state for those past few years, I doubt anyone would want to see a remotely accurate view of what he was like. I'm from Seattle and I had ties to the music scene; lots of rumors spread about what Layne looked like and how bad he'd gotten, including stuff about missing fingers, cysts, and other deformities.

After he died, news came out that once a week he would hang out in the bar he lived above. It was news because no one ever recognized him. That's how fucked up he was.

Cobain killed himself at the height of his fame, of course he is. Cornell is only being remembered well now because he just died; not long ago, I remember his image was mostly as a washed-up former rock star who had been struggling to stay relevant for years. His solo career was usually mocked, and the Soundgarden reunion was hyped, but mostly seen as a cynical "he can't do anything else" kind of move.

People were fawning over Layne right after his death, too. It's the famous death's go: they make everyone love the dead guy until they forget, with the exception of young, attractive people like Cobain.

I still remember the day Layne Staley died like it was yesterday. Me and my friend Paul were making fun of the spanish kids with velcro shoes in 7th grade shop class and next thing I know the loudspeaker goes off and has the guidance counselor on ittelling me to report to the office, I go in and my uncle Darrell who I havent seen since I was a toddler was standing there with this look of emptiness and shit. “Get in the car dude,” he said and I am thinking the worst has happened. Well I ask what was wrong and he just looked at me and said, “Layne OD’d,” and I asked him who the fuck that was. He took out a cassette and popped it in the tape deck, cranked the volume up, and passed me a joint even though he knew I never smoked before. We took off and Alice in Chains – The Rooster played all the way thru, we were both stoned silent the whole time and my mind was completelyblown. “That singer is dead now man,” and from there on out I have just had this insane outlook on life.

NOPE. Nevermind produced four #1 singles (and Top Ten in 13 foreign markets), five total charting singles, and sold 30 million copies globally, and went on to reissue that album twice. Both reissues charted in every single country in the world where it was released... 20 and 25 years respectively AFTER the first issue. From ONE abum. One. You know how much time elapsed between the release of the first and fourth singles? 14 months. That's how massive a phenomenon it was.

Then he unbuttoned his pants, despite being flaccid he was a solid 6 inches. My heart was rushing but at the time I blamed it on the weed. Now of course I'm open with my bisexuality but that's another story.
He placed his hand behind my head, I thought he was going to hug me and cry but no. He forced my face towards his penis. It had this faint smell, it stunk but I couldn't help but keep smelling. It was intoxicating.
He made it throb then grabbed it, slapped my lips then told me, "fucking open your mouth or I'm telling that you were skipping school getting high".
I opened, then he jammed it in. I twirled my tongue around his head. Took a few seconds but he was finally erect.

Pearl Jam's unplugged was never going to be as good as Nirvana's or AiC's. And I say that as huge Pearl Jam fan. It was recorded right after Ten came out, so all they could really do was play basic version of songs from Ten and a few B-sides. Nirvana and AiC recorded theirs near the ends of their careers, and had a lot more stuff to draw on.

Famous, but not really extremely influential. Mother Love Bone (and especially Andrew Wood), however, set the stage for grunge. Nirvana was just one of the bands that incorporated their style (along with other Seattle-area bands). Hell, half the guys went on to Pearl Jam (before doing Temple of the Dog). Since we're talking about grunge, can we also talk about one of its offshoots? I actually don't even know the proper name for it, but I usually think of it as like "bar rock." I do enjoy Zappa, CCR, and Mother Love Bone. But Neil Young is the father of grunge music. Live Rust was a pretty grunge album, and in 1989 when he released "Freedom" with Keep On Rockin' in the Free World, he released the first modern 'alternative' album.

>and in 1989 when he released "Freedom" with Keep On Rockin' in the Free World, he released the first modern 'alternative' album.
Nothing's Shocking came the year before that, retard.

I like STP. I think they get undeserved shit. But dont get me wrong, Alice in Chains is the far superior band. Cantrell and Staley were magic

I'm the biggest AIC / Layne fan in the world and there is a simple answer to this.

Layne was a quiet guy who spent the last years of his life shooting speedballs and died alone on his couch looking like a skeleton. No one wants to watch that.
>>
>>85810576
I remember this thread.

Anyway the guy is just big ol pile of them bones now.

Why the fuck are any of you retards surprised by this? Am I the only person who was alive in the 90's ITT and remember heroin chic and all those people dropping like flies from sharing needles?

I'm just going to say Pearl Jam sucks.
Alive is one of the worst songs I've heard.

I do cry. In fact I got a guitar to learn all the songs. It's kind of funny, anytime I'm around and there's a guitar and people ask if anybody wants to play it I always have to ask if I can tune it a step down

KEK butthurt gen z faggot. I was born in '90 and I went pop punk, metal, and then grunge. Also, the late 90s was when rap went to shit. Only a retard thinks these times, with pussy wannabe-indie rock, and rap that sounds like african chanting, have any real substance.
