The Tyrells lost support of their vassal houses not too long ago. It was just the Tyrell army against the Lannisters. Dorne isn't exactly known for it's prowess on the sea.

If anything, they fixed the mistake of portraying the Ironborn as shitters at everything.

That just raises further questions. Why did the vassal houses, with ones like Tarly mentioned to be loyal to the Tyrells, decide to serve the House that decimated the Tyrells? And I say decimated, because Margaery mentioned having several cousins, so the Tyrell bloodline is far from extinct.
