Rewatched it last week, the scifi is nice and the action sequences are neat but the characters suck donkey dick, they are literally crash test dummies with no personality going wherever the script wants them to go. Morpheus literally goes through MacGuffin to exposition machine and finally damsel in distress. Neo could be replace by a mass of tofu and Trinity is just some dumb cunt plot device. Also lots of dumb over logic for the sake of style and exposition galore. Sequels kept all the wrong while giving up on most of the good, resulting in a lot of time wasting over puppets doing logistics, awful romance and expositon like there's no tomorrow.

Neo empties the magazines of two mp5s on literal coffee sipping/newspaper reading unsuspecting guards armed with mere semiautomatic pistols, trinity then empties her uzi on the one remaining guard after he has already called for backup and is pointing his pistol elsewhere.

In comes the paramilitary backup unit, full body armor, assault rifles and shotguns, defensive positions behind beams, weapons aimed at neo and trinity.

Neo decides to face this challenge dual wielding two semiautomatic pistols, trinity foregoes guns and instead opts for a bit of free running up walls

Even within the established (virtual) reality of the movie this makes no sense at all. It's stupid and it's absurd and now that the soundtrack feels dated instead of cool it's just laughable.
