Er, well, in real armor you'd put padding on the INSIDE because it would help soften the blow, and putting it on the outside would simply result in it getting ripped apart and rendered fairly useless after 1 fight from staving off the cold. Who knows why you would put the leather on the outside, makes no sense to me.

That being said, she's been around soldiers and fighting men all her life, so if she had any powers of observation at all she'd notice if something that obvious.
