>"[Dunkirk is] Christopher Nolan's new directorial gift to men, who are currently spending their time fervently ranking his movies, arguing about said rankings, and—presumably—wearing fedoras completely un-ironically. Or even worse, ironically."

>"The thing is, I just don't think Dunkirk is a very good movie—if your definition of the word movie is "moving images held together by a plot." Like, yes: Dunkirk is very well-made. I felt like I was going to vomit during it, because that's how intense it was."

>"It's a story worthy of being told and re-told, and I really enjoy war movies in general, but still—actual stuff needs to happen. Stuff other than scenes of men burning in oil-covered water, ships sinking, and bodies drowning."

>"But my main issue with Dunkirk is that it's so clearly designed for men to man-out over. And look, it's not like I need every movie to have "strong female leads." Wonder Woman can probably tide me over for at least a year, and I understand that this war was dominated by brave male soldiers. I get that. But the packaging of the film, the general vibe, and the tenor of the people applauding it just screams "men-only"—and specifically seems to cater to a certain type of very pretentious man who would love nothing more than to explain to me why I'm wrong about not liking it."

>"if Nolan's entire purpose is breaking the established war movie mold and doing something different—why not make a movie about women in World War II? Or—because I know that will illicit cries of "ugh, not everything has to be about feminism, ugh!"—how about any other marginalized group? These stories shouldn't be relegated to indie films and Oscar season. It's up to giant powerhouse directors like Nolan to tell them, which is why Dunkirk feels so basic. It's a summer war movie"

Why would you waste your time feeling enraged about the opinions of some hack "journalist" writing for Marie Clare?

You know her primary audience in this publication is other stupid women. Why would you circulate the opinion of someone this stupid?

If you actually watched Dunkirk (about 6 people total ITT right now) why not sit and post your opinions of the film and have a detailed discussion about its themes as we're pretty much all men here anyway.

Wouldnt that be more productive than reading fucking articles in marie curie? This is Facebook tier bullshit.

This entire site has become nothing but:

The issue isn't that the movie is about men, it's that the movie is about genuine male victimhood. How is she supposed to complain about manspreading knowing that her grandfather had to clean his best friend's brain off of his face after seeing it get blown off by a Japanese machine gun? How is she supposed to be outraged by catcalling knowing that millions of men died in order to give her the freedom she's taking advantage of by complaining about men in some magazine?

It's not that films about men aren't allowed to be made, it's that films about male sacrifice, victimhood, and heroism aren't allowed to be made. You have to present white males through the ideological prism of privilege, not as dying by the tens of millions in order to save the world from Nazis.

>But times have changed since 1962, so too has technology. No longer can directors simply capture real landscapes while also capturing audience’s hearts and minds. The (post-)modern audience demands, nay, deserves more! Even when the camera is inside a sinking ship, or tracking an aerial battle, that now familiar and much loved violent jittery motion known as shaky-cam is barely present. Even a novice film-maker cannot ignore innovation. With Nolan eschewing shaky-cam and 3-D, not to mention CGI, for his latest film one begins to sense that his choices are the result of malice for audience rather than ignorance of craft.

It's not about "bro Action and Explosion fuck yea!!"

There are movies that touch on brotherhood and sacrifice that only men(and a select few woman) can truly understand. War movies happen to be good at this because if nothing else, war is best at putting men in situations that inflict a great deal of pain and loss side by side other men, all dealing with the same emotions in great tragedy.

Why do I bother, you wouldn't understand

What every article failed to mention is that stats for every male sport started because some autistic guys wanted that information, useless information at the time that would amount to being worth millions. Guys, with no one telling them to, sat down and meticulously gathered that information. And still do to this day. Yet still women cry that men aren't doing enough, instead of doing the work themselves.

Showing a woman fighter pilot in any war is just forced and unrealistic unless the movie completely is focused on her. Also why try and broaden to an audience of women when 99% have no interest in that specific genre of movie?

>don't make for an exciting cinema experience.

An exciting cinema experience is a good movie. Unfortunately, people don't have $ to see them, so they go to "event" movies, e.g. special effects ridden capeshit. Mentality like yours is sadly what the general population thinks due to our times.

>why not make a movie about women in World War II
They have multiple times
>how about any other marginalized group
Also been done many times

Is there literally anybody on earth that *actually* likes the SJW-bait movies?
Like who the fuck actually gave a rat's ass about the Space Negress movie, for example?
These people, at most, go to see the movie and tell themselves "Yes, this was good. I know it was good because having a movie about black women is a social issue I'm told to care about." then they tell everybody how great it was for ~2 weeks and never even think about it again.

Who's gonna see Black Space Cunts in a fucking bargain bin 20 years from now and think "oh wow I remember that movie, that's a classic. I'm gonna pick that up and watch it as soon as I get home tonight"?

It's all such tryhard garbage, not even the dead-eyed cat ladies and "actually, I'm a they"'s who peddle it really like that crap.

Did you not go to high school?

Hidden Figures is exactly the kind of movie they show kids on a rainy day. I got 'October Sky' when I was 15, which is more about actual science than race baiting shit. But times have changed.

>—if your definition of the word movie is "moving images held together by a plot."

It's not. At all.
Films can be about events, not just telling a story.

My mom owns that on DVD. It is the odd one out of her movie collection along with 24 collection. Rest are usual detective stories and French/Italian new wave films.

>dying by the tens of millions in order to save the world from Nazis.

They died by the tens of millions so the Jews could put a central bank in Germany that Hitler opposed. Good job, retards.
