Because they are retarded. Troops on the ground reported an engagement, and then communications were jammed. One ship freaks out and starts firing, everyone else joins.

the book that they are adapating for season 1 isnt actually finished until season 2 episode 5 - which imo is one of the best episodes of tv ever

from episode 6 onwards till the finale they are adapting book 2 and i have to assume that either they changed the writing staff or got some new director(s) in but the quality of the show honestly dropped quite a lot since they were on book 1 material

for some reason everyone starts quipping like they are in a fucking marvel movie, the season 2 finale is especially fucking awful in that regard, i have no idea what they were thinking

im pretty worried about season 3 now

The small budget really shows. The scale is completely off, there are too few extras in shots, the entire Belt is shown as one station, characters talk about millions of Belters but we only see a dozen in any given shot, ships are supposed to be able to carry hundreds but we only see a few people, the Martian marine chick walks on a "crowded" street on Earth, there are 3 people to populate it, there was a crowd of "hundreds" wanting to board the Somnambulist on Ganymede but we only see 50 people. And it's really glaring, no cloning or camera trickery to make the crowds look bigger, nothing.
