Re-watching Iron Man 2 recently made me sad. That went into production, I believe, just before the Disney buyout. And boy can you tell. Film starts off great, has a lot of the same great things about it the first one did, and then the middle act grinds to a halt and becomes an extended teaser reel for Avengers and Agents of Shield. The final fight sequence at the expo is an amazing action scene, but not enough to make up for literally all the character development that was planned for the second act being replaced with quips and an advert.

Truly the beginning of the end.

There's awe, excitement, at the idea of flying around in a suit doing cool shit. But now everyone can do it, there's not a day that goes by in that world where you don't hear about some sort of super-something.

Tony was the first in the modern age and everyone was shitting themselves at it. It was literally a scenario where if someone in our world came up with a supersuit and started dicking around with it across the world.

Now it's aliens are are biggest threat, not the guy who wants to build more suits to use for war.
