Is Peep show literally the best British comedy series ever?
Seriously it consistently crops up as people's favourite TV show and it's easy to see why
>>85556128

its good
wtf is a naan
Nah I prefer Father Ted or Brass Eye
Yes FT is British you idiot
>>85556128
bad series finale, though

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I'M NOT SICK
>>85556128
>Is Peep show literally the best British comedy series ever?
I have the exact same opinion.
Also the best ever cringe comedy, IMO tops even Curb Your Enthusiasm
Also really like the POV technique, never seen anything directed that way before
>>85556184
>watching comedies with laughtracks
>>85556209
what show has had a good series finale?
>>85556128
It's up there.
I prefer at least 15 other UK shows though.
>>85556349
>Letting something so fucking petty as a laughtrack ruin brilliantly written comedy.
You know, you can concentrate on the actual show rather than the 0.5% of the show what happens to be a laughtrack.
>make a funny sitcom with an original twist
>lose every award to the office
Unlucky lads
>>85556128
I had an argument with Robert Webb on twitter the other day, he's a massive beta. Kept going on about how masculinity is bad and dangerous. Sad!
>>85556399
Regular show
I know it's a cartoon, yet it's called a show
>>85556499
Cant' really blame him, you have to doublethink in UK these days m8
>>85556517
i meant a real show, not a shitty cartoon where one of the characters is a gumball machine or something
>>85556499
>Kept going on about how masculinity is bad and dangerous.
How would Robert Webb know lmao
>toxic masculinity isn't dangerous
you're blind and a brainwashed idiot
>>85556399
Parks & Recreation has the best series finale of all time
>>85556565
Oh so you mean the SHOW not even a sitcom, oke
>>85556621
Out of all the series finales I think this one is one of the few that doesn't leave you feeling cheated.
It's a really comfy end to a really good show.

Fucking hell this is pathetic.
>>85557353
This one is embarrassing too
>>85556128
It went on for too long, if they had killed it after the 5th series it would have been perfect. It became a parody of itself.
>>85556975
It does, yeah.Still I like Seinfeld better overall way more
>>85557466
It's even more embarassing to try hard to BE "masculine" imo.
Like people who refuse to admit they think cats are cute because it might make them appear feminine.
That Mitchell and Webb look is better.
>>85557594
Yeah you're probably right, but nobody's doing that. Fact is that he's pathetic for demonising a construct which has maintained social order for millennia. The comforts of Western life allow people to forget the most important aspects of life. You won't see anyone decrying masculinity in the third world.
>>85556184

>>85557466

>>85556349
Yes the laughtrack on Brass Eye was particularly distracting
>>85557638
I think he's trying to say that masculinity incorporates more than just manly muscle men as the pictures in the tweet below seem to indicate. Having a simple reduced scope of masculinity is just as bad as trying to tear it down. A man should be more than just muscles.
You American retards are confused. Sitcoms in the UK (the good ones) are recorded in front of a live studio audience
>>85557626
Just got through this, absolute Sketch kino.
>mfw the very last sketch hits you right in the feels like they hinted to earlier
>>85558104
But it's simply a fact that muscles = strength, and strength = security. He can try and make crying masculine or whatever he wants, but in the end he's fighting against human nature and biology.
>>85556128
That or This is England. Completely different shows, of course
>>85557846
Mitchell's doing so well without him, wonder if they even talk that much anymore.
>>85556399
seinfeld
>>85558104
So google masculinity and read some articles about it rather than look for images where obviously only the visual aspects can be conveyed. Having said that, the first result is the wiki page, then it's "Traditional ideas of masculinity are poisoning our society." and huffost "toxic masculinity leads to abuse of women across the world", so the hyperthetical kid who would google this shit, who I'm not sure has ever existed, is probably more harmed by being told his existance is a sin rather than images telling him he should got to the gym and lift.
>>85558475
Always thought it was hilarious that modern feminism demands equality for women on trivial things like dress codes whilst simultaneously demonising the biological imperative of young boys everywhere. They really have no shame.
>>85558665
>its literal rape for a man to define femininity
>masculinity is toxic if it doesnt fit what i want it to be
really makes me marxist
>>85556128
I love this show. It made me spiral into a crushing depression and nihilism about career life. Everyday I would watch the show before work and slowly begin to see that I was LITERALLY mark.
>>85558475
I'm not disagreeing that the articles about how masculinity are bad aren't retarded and posionous but I'm also saying that simply going on about muscles and strength only as masculinity is just as bad. Masculinity incorporates strength in more ways than just physical. We need to instill a sense of stoicism and determination in the face of adveristy more than a simple bravado in men.
>>85556499
>I had an argument on twitter the other day

>>85560128

Why is it so unfunny?
>>85556128
No, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is the number one
And I'd put Black Books above Peep Show as well
But it's a good third
>>85560360
They didn't even realise that the show was shot in POV-mode. They just thought the gimmick was that the camera was shaking.
It's so unfunny because they were retarded, is what I'm getting at.
>>85556399
Breaking Bad?
>>85556954
This. Nothing tops it.
>>85560401
Oh yeah. now I realize there's no actual POV shots in this. Christ.
>>85559625
The first sentence was addressing that, if you're only looking for images you're only going to get visual depictions of masculinity, which are generally muscles "because stoicism and determination in the face of adveristy" are something you need actual talent to put into an image and generally require background knowledge in anyway to undestrand. For instance, unless you know a little bit about infantry's interaction with cavalry charges in the 19C, The Thin Red Line is just some guys with guns shooting guys with sabres.
>>85556621
Angel's was better.
>>85556128

>>85556954
Absolutely. OFAH at it's best is so much better than anything else.
>>85557110
>>85557163
Not even in the top 20 funniest moments. The reason the show was so good was usually that there were jokes building up over the entire episode with a 10 minute buildup to the punchline. Del falling through the bar is funny, but it isn't that funny.
Something like video related is funny if you actually watch the episode from the start.

>>85556499
If you consider the show a template for their personalities they both come across as massive betas.
I mean i still like the show, but they are not exactly examples of masculinity to follow.
>>85558318
Yeah that caught me off guard.
>>85556184
>Yes FT is British you idiot
are you sure?
>>85559625
>>85557594
But they themselves are demonizating guys just because they look strong and buff. So that immediately makes them unkind brutes?.
How the fuck do they get away with this shit. Think what would happen if it was someone commenting negatively on some female model pictures.
Liberal cucks cant comprehend they are the ones fucking up the minds of young boys. Fuck them.
>>85562847
Astonishing insight.
>>85557110
whoever voted in that poll would probably now vote for mrs brown's boys, it's the same audience and their opinions don't matter
>>85558318
SOD CANCER
>>85562847
they didn't even write the show, idk how the actual writers would have enough insight into their personalities to make them templates for them
the roles were written for them because it's something they can play well, not because they're actually like that
>>85556128
This show made me hate everyone.

Angel, Spartacus, The Wire, Parks & Rec (impressive because at the time season 6's felt like the perfect finale and the actual final season would feel like Scrubs's 9th, but no somehow they fucking topped it). Hannibal's season 2 was their best but the actual series finale was great too, I've watched it on its own multiple times with no diminishing returns.
Shit, I thought I'd be able to name more than that.
darkplace is overrated among people who think it's really obscure and the joke wears thin after two episodes

I feel like Peep Show is something only men will truly understand. All those absurd internal dialogs are not unrealistic.

>>85564962

>>85556322
The timing of it is so different from other comedies, like when Mark gets rejected by that office bitch he throws the coffee cup on the ground in anger the second she leaves with hesitation, rather that waiting for a build up like in most shows. The cringe that followed was out of this world.

I hate that character so much I can't even look at the actress and not be mad.
>>85565071
exactly. american. brits can handle the laugh track because loads of classics have them and are great.
watch black books, father ted (any graham linehan show), many of our sketch comedies, fawlty towers, fucking anything not US or recent
it doesn't have any real effect on how good the show is, it just changes the timing a little bit but good actors respond really well and work with it and so it can be a positive in a show overall
>>85556399

I worked at a liquor shop and every day the same set of maybe five people would show up to buy a couple of cheap strong beers first thing in the morning and then later in the evening.
It's a bit depressing to see, but they were always the most pleasant costumers, always saying thank you or even helping you out if you're about to drop something or whatever. Meanwhile the guys in suits who pop in to get wine will treat you like you're retarded if you can't immediately find the particular wine they're looking for.
>>85565608
i don't exactly want them in new shows, but i have no problem with it. i watched the it crowd when it was first coming out and had no problem with it. if it's a good show, the laugh track adds to it, and if not i wouldn't watch it anyway
>>85562963
>>85564970
It's a British-Irish co-production if people want to be silly about it, otherwise it's all about who the main production company is when talking about the country of origin for television and film, and Father Ted would be classed as British despite having Irish writers and actors.
