Same. I wanted an SFII movie to be like the anime and take the subject matter seriously. I was a crazy hardcore fan and had all kind of merch and shit.

I hated the movie. I actually felt my little world spinning as I watched it.
Going back when I was older though I could really appreciate what they did. The subject matter didn't deserve to be serious business and they made a very very fun movie that I adore now.
I used to feel bad that this was Raul Juia's last film but seeing how much fun he was having, and how hammy he was able to get in such a campy movie really make it better.
