This movie was filled with every sci fi movie trope ever but it seemed like it was completely unaware of it. It seems like they just watched a few scenes from the original movie on youtube when they were deciding to remake it and they almost no understanding of why the original was so influental.

Forcing a white protagonist is the worst of it. Cast should've been all Japanese. Doesn't matter either way though since no adaptation could come close to the original anime.
