Main character is a mary sue and boring as hell. Should have scrapped him and just made Mako the main character. Should have cleared up what cross compatible means.
Should have made the Russian and Chinese Jaegers more important as they liiterally die in their first encounter in really bitch ways.
The fights were okay, but it was impossible to understand how much damage either fighter could take so it just felt like two punching bags hitting each other.
The massive plothole with the Jaeger sword which is amazingly effective.
The logistics of Jaegers in the first place, its Plasma cannon was really powerful, a coastal defense of just Plasma Cannons would be just as effective.
Why are the Jaegers called Rangers? They don't trek into uncharted terrortory. If they had ggone through the breach to fight Kaiju on their own turf then the name would make sense, otherwise Guardian or Sentinel.
Just get rid of the main guy, he's really shit and boring.
Just alot of missed oppurtunites with the other Jaegers, they show up to do thei special moves then die. No sit down with the Russians or Chinese who would understand what its like to be a Ranger.

The writing and the acting were distractingly awful.
The characters were all shit.
All in all a shit flick for hella f*ckin epic manchildren and redditors.

There were way too many monsters so that none of them were designed or characterized. The "Ultimate Level 5 Kaiju" was introduced in the final five minutes and did nothing. The classic Godzilla movies always had one monster antagonist, maybe with one sidekick.

I'd make the Level 5 Emergence the central conflict of the movie, do the whole backstory where the robots defeat the monsters over and over but then have the supermonster arrive, defeat the veteran Chinese and Russian robots in a brutal 2v1 fight where they land real hits but he's just too strong, defeat the advanced top of the line Australian robot with EMP bullshit, and there introduce conflict with the old American robot and the fact that the rift is about to expand and allow an army of monsters like that into earth.

Empty characters and no real struggle outside of the fights. Also the graphic looked really...I guess disappointing, the steel didn't look like steel etc.

By far the Robot Jox is still the superior giant mechas western movie.

The battles against Leatherback and Otachi was great but the final battle was meh.

I love this movie it's all cliche as fuck but really entertaining
it wears al it's anime tropes on it's sleave

I was really surprised by the tone of it. It was a kids movie, and that's fine, but it wasn't what I thought I was going to see.
Second watch was more enjoyable.

I didn't like the coloring. It looked like one big, grey mass to me.

Main character being forgettable. Hell, I have a good memory and I dont even remember the actor.

Still, the sequel will be even worst so doesn't matter anymore.

The only good part was the hand blade. After the movie I realized I should have just watched Evangelion again or played MuvLuv Alternative.

I feel the exact opposite. Granted, the movie had its weak part but overall I enjoyed it very much. The fights were well done and the CGI was great.
I just wished they showed more of the Russian and the Chinese Jaeger.

Del Toro, just like Nolan, doesn't handle humor very well so all his comedic scenes are cheesy and embarassing as fuck. The movie also has bad, stereotypical and shallow characters.
