I also feel that they dumbed down the conversation and banter between characters which were the best parts of the show in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I started to see the cracks in season 3, Talisa was an annoying change that never really made sense to me, until the red wedding episode when I realised she was created entirely to add a little more shock value/ emotion to that event.
I still was loving the show at that point though, and was incredibly excited for season 4 because I knew what was coming.
Joffrey's death it was still all good, couldn't wait for the battles at the wall, Tyrion's story, Oberyn, etc
Then they tried doing Brienne'ss story from AFFC early for some reason, except they butchered it completely and I was a little shocked. That stupid fucking shit with Asha and shirtless Ramsay, Brienne finding Arya and then killing the Hound.
Battles at the wall all condensed into one, but I'll admit maybe it translated better to the screen that way.
Tyrion was still a fantastic watch at this point as well, it's like that boat to Pentos drained him of any character.

I still enjoyed Season 4, but when trailers for season 5 started coming out I was just not as interested. I didn't have that excitement anymore, and after it was over I was basically only watching to shit on the show and memepost in /got/

I was wondering this too. The only explanation I can think of is that she's still somehow better than Cersei. I mean, think about how long he's had to deal with Cersei and her bullshit, and think about how divided the kingdoms are, Cersei further running it into the ground, and that dany will be able to unite them due to technically being the truest heir to the throne, and also not being Cersei.

All in all, some things are just fudged up due to shit that was in the books that weren't included in the show, such as Faegon being the one that Varys actually supported, not Dany. It's really starting to show how much FAegon was needed, but since they wanted to wrap this up by season 8, I can only assume that he just couldn't make the cut no matter what due to time constraints. Well, either that or it was because D&D wanted to show that Dany was a strong wimmin that don't need no man, so Faegon was cut due to undermining Dany quite a bit.

Early Game of Thrones seemed to have some level of moral ambiguity. The dialogue was better, it was well paced, and intrigue unfolded through interesting dialogue.
Late Game of Thrones is the opposite. It's a black and white conflict with heels and faces. The pacing is rushed and instead of character developing dialogue, we have quick and simple exposition in order to move on to the next scene.
The show is essentially Professional Wrestling with better sets and costumes.
