a: Dark and gritty
b: corny and silly like the original Power Rangers

And I got neither, making it feel like the movie lacked any real sense of what it wanted to be. It seemed too scared to be dark and too embarrassed to be Power Rangers

It should have been cheezy, because their entire audience (children and manchildren (like me) who still like Power Rangers) would have eaten it up and it would probably have made more money

I just started watching Zyuranger and got up to the end of the Dragon Ranger 5 parter. I unironically enjoy it. It's simultaneously more serious/dramatic and more ridiculous/fantastical than Power Rangers. Different shows that I like for different reasons. Zyurangers does get more robot and ranger footage though.

The black autistic Billy made me laugh. I'm surprised it didn't have a Tommy character considering he was more popular than the red ranger.
