Am I missing anything important if I start watching Star Trek: Next Generation without seeing previous shows?
no not really. you've probably absorbed enough pop culture to know who the original characters are when they make cameos now and then
you will miss some callbacks but whatever
You'll be missing the better Star Trek series.
be aware that s1 and s2 are pretty clunky and that the consistently good episodes come at a later time but it's worth seeing it from the beginning due to the momentum it builds
(this is also the case for DS9 and Voyager)

Which one?

The Original Series

Good taste, my friend.
>>85490545
Watch the original films. Forget the series.

Shit taste, my friend.

There's really only one. I mean, technically there's the Animated Series, but it's basically part of TOS.

Not really, but I definitely recommend watching TOS.I prefer it, in fact.

>Implying I didn't watch the originals and am just assuming someone who isn't a Trek fan already wont want to sit through 40+ hours of 60's special effects.

Then watch it with remastered special effects.

Remastered is a strong word. Besides OP won't be able to sit through it without getting into Star Trek first.
