Sinister 1 and 2 are two modern mainstream horror movies that truly left me disturbed after watching them, which I can't say for many. I really hope there will be a third one eventually. They are so underrated, they are waaaay better than any movie in The Conjuring series.

A sudden visual cue accompanied by a loud and jarring noise is something we are biologically designed to jump at aka cheap shit. Give a horror film 3 jump scares and then turn it off to save yourself some time.
