Dany and Jon always had plot armor. Dany in particular has been immune to any and all danger because she's the only thing holding together all the shit going down in the east. Prior to Varys and Tyrion showing up if she'd been killed everything she worked for would have been completely useless.

Thankfully now that she's in westeros she can get her shit pushed in and slaughtered.
