sorry but this kind of reminds me of that post criticizing the show "Sherlock" a while back as in D&D think that Euron is a great captain, therefore he is basically a wizard and can do anything at sea.

If your character is smart and skilled then show him being smart and skilled. Don't treat them like infallible wizards. In season 2 when Tyrion tried to find out who was feeding information to Cersei he told Baelish, Varys and Pycelle three different stories so when his sister would eventually confront him with his supposed schemes he'd know who he couldn't trust.

In season 5 onwards when a character is "good" at something they don't show them actually being good at it.

If the story sets up the precedent that Euron can use some form of magic or has an artifact that allows him to sail his ship anywhere without being detected then that's unrealistic in our world but it isn't unrealistic in asoiaf. But in this specific case they just showed him sailing up to the flagship completely unhindered. So the only explanation is that for some reason they just decided to put their flagship at the front (which makes Yara a fucking retard) or he sailed through the entire fleet without being detected before he could launch his attack. Even if we assume that he's the greatest captain that ever lived, he can only be at one ship at a time. He might be so skilled to navigate his own ship through an entire fleet without getting detected but do you really think that the rest of his fleet can do the same? Unlikely.

It is an important part of the political side of things. TV show don't mentions it, and so it might seem that the decision for someone to marry some other clan makes little sense.
It is particularly bad with Danny, because of all, her storyline is the one most heavily focused on scarcity, resources and logistics and her inability to think about such things. She pretty much struggles with those thing all the way from the beginning to her landing in Westeros. Even her very beginning, where is sold to Drogo was just to get army forces.

Ship ramming is a thing, but not with sails, since you can't rely on sails to get you there with speed in the right angle.

Ship ramming also fell out of favour after antiquity for the much more effective method of boarding with just hooks. Ramming risks hooking your own ship and sinking both. It also sinks the attacked vessel, which is pointless since you could just take it over and now you have another ship (ships being extremely valuable).

So there's plenty of inconsistencies to work with here, but why bother, this is the same show that will have an undead ice dragon soon enough.

The issue wasn't if Westeros had access to crossbows, it was if they couldn't make an advanced ballista. From what Kyburn said from when he showed the queen the ballista it is clear that they could not until that point.

Crossbows became involved because in the beginning it was shown that their crossbows were relatively primitive until Joff made it a point to develop a more advanced design which was clearly shown in the series. Seeing as the people who helped develop the light, fast firing type for the King were undoubtedly well known to kyburn he no doubt used them to make the anti dragon ballista.

The point is that yes, everyone has crossbows but the Lannisters have better ones and it is quite plausible that until they developed that technology they couldn't make a anti dragon ballista.

Via his equipment reforms Joff is going to kill a dragon from beyond the grave, ironically meaning that combined with his defense of Kings Landing he wasn't actually that bad of a military leader.

Dragonstone is at the mouth of a huge inlet that leads to Kings Landing. Since it and Dorne were the only two places Dany had harbors they are the only two places Dany could have set her ships to travel on between the 7 kingdoms. Euron would have wanted to use the Iron Fleet to destroy Danys naval assets. If he saw they were at Dragonstone (during the planning meeting) he could have easily pushed on to ambush them on the coastal route to Dorne when they left.

If Dany's fleet had instead focused on casterly rock instead of going to Dorne he could have assaulted Dragonstone, if they attacked Kings landing he could have bottled them up from behind and trapped them.

Their ships were lit up on a known route, Euron was waiting in ambush. Basically they were out maneuvered and got sloppy.

There is only one route between Dorne and Dragon Stone, they are the only two ports Dany owns. It is on a coast. In all likelihood they were following the coast by day then anchored at night, Yara's fleet wasn't underway at the time.

If he knew where they were going he could have easily sailed a day past Dragon Stone then waited til evening to launch an attack, he would have known the route they would take and where they would anchor.

As mentioned before, if instead they went to Kings landing or Casterly rock he would be positioned to either bottle them up on the blackwater or assault Dragonstone.
