Why is this movie so underrated? As far as "mob" movies go this one barely gets any attention.
Also, lol at both Calogeros and how they turned out.
It may Chazz Palminterii's story, but why do you think Robert De Niro wanted to direct it so badly? Anyway, it's not bad, but not great. Lillo Brancato Jr. is a wooden plank of an actor.

>interracial love drama
of course it's directed by De Niro
Do the jews control DeNiro?
Because it's not really a mob movie. It's a coming of age story about a kid learning that the mob isn't good and that he should focus more on girls than being a violent asshole. People were probably disappointed when the realized it wasn't what they were expecting.

But De Niro was a prejudiced dude in the movie that didn't want Calogero dating outside the face. Sonny was like whatever do whatever you feel like.

It wasn't directed by Scorsese or Copolla.
That being said, everyone I know who saw "A Bronx Tale" loved it, but it wasn't a success in cinema and the people thought that movie is only an ego trip for De Niro (despite he's an great director and now waste his late career with bad written DTV thriller and comedies he stars in, he should go the Eastwood way and focus completely on directing).
