I don't understand this review. What kind of movie was "No Man's Sky"? I've never heard of that before.
>>85332058
it means "every time someone shits on 'Valerian', i get online and order another ticket to see it. i'm up to thirty-three."
No Man's Sky was a video game.
No Man's Sky is a famous recent kino about a universe where men have long become a relic of the past and have been relegated to second class citizens. It shows what a utopia the world is when ruled by women.

No Man's Sky was a famous "multiplayer" videogame.
One that, according to the developers was so vast that the chances of you coming across another player (even though everyone played on the same server) was so remote as to be practically impossible.
So impossible in fact that they neglected to inform people it was singleplayer only, and was always intended as such.
Good job Sony didn't allow refunds ans a load of PS4 owners got burned massively because of it.
Protip: Steam allows refunds. And allows consumer reviews.
Protip 2: or do pic related. I did.

I heard it got better after they fixed the fugged resource management.

It's this year's Warcraft. The weird movie with some plotting flaws but stellar visual craftsmanship that gets shat on because Americans don't like boyish action heroes and because the people who drummed up the press necessary for La La Land to almost get a best picture Oscar are clearly qualified to tell us what makes a good film.

>Warcraft.
>stellar visual craftsmanship
>No Man's Sky is an action-adventure survival video game developed and published by the indie studio Hello Games for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The game was released worldwide in August 2016.
>nu males
Im not usually one to call people nu-males but that guy has the quintessential numale face and expression
The Valerian and Laureline comics are really good. This should be a lucrative franchise, with a few movies made. More potential than Avatar space Smurf garbage. They casting is all wrong on the leads.
Valerian is like Dark Souls

>I write about film, television, pop culture, and other fun stuff.
>>85338841
That looks amazing indeed. Reminds me of Tintim
no mans sky was empty and soulless
valerian is empty and soulless
wow
Valerian was my favorite movie of the summer, I don't understand the hate. Yeah it had a lot of cheesiness, but that's what I was expecting from a movie like this.
>>85332058
I agree with your sentiment OP but that reviewer is correct in assuming that the intended audience for Valerian knows what No Man's Sky is.
>>85338313
You heard what I fuckin' said.
>>85340015
I would have thought all the meme critics would be more forgiving because it at least had quips and an SJW message. I don't know. Maybe it was too "weird" for them, which I wouldn't have expected because it seemed pretty formal to me, but compare with with, say, the new Star Wars films and it's like night and day.
anyone more attractive than me = numale
used to be hipster
>>85338841
I don't understand, I thought they were fine. They needed better dialogue and direction, but I was feeling it. Dane Dehaan plays a good well-meaning asshole.
>>85340241
It didn't hit the beats. It didn't pull you along for a ride, even if it's got segments that do. It's quirky in a way that I think Americans in particular hate, kind of like an art nerd who decides to go out for football.
You know what it feels like? It feels like a pre-Abrams Star Trek movie. And you know how much critics hated those when they came out.
>>85332058
That's a chick's name
>>85332058
This nu-male slams anything he doesn't feel is progressive enough. Go back through some of his other recent reviews, it's just embarrassing.
>>85340611
>You know what it feels like? It feels like a pre-Abrams Star Trek movie.
brb going to see Valerian now
>>85336483
>No Man's Sky was a famous "multiplayer" videogame.
It came out less than a year ago
>>85340241
>an SJW message
It's an old-fashioned optimistic liberal message grounded in some degree of realistic expectations of an objective reality, not the insane radical cult modern liberalism has become. I fully expected them to shit on this extra-hard.
>>85340611
>It feels like a pre-Abrams Star Trek movie. And you know how much critics hated those when they came out.
Are you implying this film may go down as a cult favourite like the Star Trek films?
>>85340762
so?
>>85340912
It's unconventional and flawed in a way a lot of cult favorites are (though in some ways they hew too closely to the action formula, and I wish they'd gone whole-hog unconventional). Cult films are hard to predict, but it does sort of feel like a movie some people will get incensed about when, in a few years, someone who hasn't seen it talks shit about it.
But I said the same thing about Warcraft.
>>85340762
Deep
>>85340912
I think it could. I'd watch it again. It's got its fair share of stupidity and cheesiness at a plot/dialogue level, but in an unpretentious, fun sort of way. The visuals & world-building are everything you could want from this type of sci-fi movie. And apparently I'm in a minority for feeling this way, but DeHaan and Cara Delevigne have enough charm and chemistry to carry the whole thing
it was a super hyped game that ended up being complete shit.
valerian is only complete shit the only reason this site likes it is because they always like to have the unpopular opinion. I swear if released a movie about straight up gay porn and it got bad reviews you people would claim that is was cockino
>>85332058
I rarely say this but that's a punchable face if I ever seen one.
