Was this movie trying to say something about racism?

Movie was written without race in mind, the point, if anything, is that shit happens and people are stupid assholes. Ben died for no reason at the end, but if he weren't so insistent on his 'we can't barricade ourselves into the basement because muh horde's overwhelming strength' idea a lot of other people wouldn't have died either. Harry was an asshole who had just as little a clue as Ben but both of them were equally useless tools.
