What are some directors that could've gone somewhere and never went anywhere?
For example Chris Cunningham was considered one of the greats alongside Spike Jonze and he never did anything, I always thought he had lots of potential
I guess he was happy just making music videos and shorts
monte hellman never did anything as serious as two lane blacktop, unless you count cockfighter. his filmography is also really short. i hope he comes back one day and doesn't go the cimino route.
rémy belvaux commited suicide years after making man bites dog. he apparently also threw a cream pie at bill gates face before he died. RIP
Such a shame Cunningham never has and probably never will venture into feature filmmaking. Not familiar with Neuromancer but it sounds like he could've made it into a good film.
Cunningham will probably make a comeback. Ridley and Tony Scott didn't make their debut feature till in their 40's.

I think he's in his 80's, so probably nothing left in him. Iguana is pretty 'serious' but not nearly as good as Two-Lane Blacktop or his Roger Corman westerns. I appreciated it for what it was. I couldn't finish Road to Nowhere.
He's active on Facebook btw

Well, he did make a comeback recently but his comeback consisted in some type of performance art involving laser robots
Also according to Aphex Twin, Chris Cunningham made a zombie film but he never released it, it's probably bullshit though
Paul Brickman
why doesnt he just ask bork for some money

Shane Carruth
