The Equilibrium fight was pure camp, that Resident Evil one is just stupid. At least until Chris runs out of ammo, it gets good at that point because they aren't dodging 900+ FPS bullets at less than 5 feet and it follows the much more solid Equilibrium logic of evading the muzzle and wrestling the aim away from you.

No, that's aboslutely what it is. I both hate it and love it because this is just short of literally being a Final Fantasy or anime fight scene. The gravity and weight to his strikes and "shockwaves" to give the sense of I mean... it's Excalibur, the legendary sword wielded by the rightful bloodline so it's a cool/nice take on it in theory.

It just looks beyond ridiculous in live-action. Part of me still really likes it in some way.
